Zaragoza City Council removes from its website the cover of a record by order of Vox

The City Council of Zaragoza, governed by PP and Cs, has removed from its website the image of the cover of this record at the order of Vox.

Eva Cortés (Zaragoza, 1993) is the author of the cover illustration of "O Zaguer Chilo V", a compilation album of Aragonese music with 20 songs by Aragonese groups of different musical styles, not of "jotas" as some media headlined.

The thing is that Vox Zaragoza organised a press conference in which, among its arguments, it talked about the Aragonese jotera because the woman in the image appears in traditional Aragonese dress, so she denigrates so and so, blah, blah, blah… The usual stuff.

From there, I suppose, some journalist got a headline without listening to the record or asking about its content. Although it would have been enough to read a little because it is quite clear what it contains:

"Twenty groups from the new music scene in Aragonese".

Councillor. Carmen Rouco Laliena, ended her press conference:

"From VOX we ask for the immediate removal of this poster from the municipal website, the municipal government cannot be financing groups that project this image of our traditions, of our jota and of Zaragozan women".

And so it was, the City Council bowed its head, obeyed the order of the ultra-right and the image disappeared from the municipal website.

What has VOX achieved? Nothing but a lot at the same time. You know. The eternal things of Barbra Streisand.

The illustration is a more than obvious homage to this cover of the 2001 album "Con el agua al cuello" by the group Ixo Rai! and the illustrator, in this thread, rebels against censorship and insults and questions "whether we were freer (two decades ago) than in the middle of 2022".
